2007 STIPEND PAYABLE IN 2008
The $500 education stipends for 2007 are now being processed. Students need not apply, the stipend payments are generated automatically to those who qualify. Employment verifications were mailed to the counties the first of January. The information is now being processed, and checks should be mailed starting in May.
PRE-APPOINTMENT/PRE-ELECTION CERTIFICATION
Candidates for township assessor must file a certificate of qualification at the time they participate as a candidate. An application for certification is found on page 35 of the 2008 Course Schedule, which is located in the education area of this web site. STATE-WIDE BOARD OF REVIEW EXAMINATION SCHEDULED 4/10/08
The department has scheduled a state-wide board of review examination in Sangamon County. The exam is scheduled to take place at the Drury Inn, 3180 S. Dirksen Parkway, Springfield, IL 62703. The exam is scheduled for 10:15 am on Thursday, April 10, 2008. Anyone interested in taking the exam should contact Linda Williamson at 217-782-2818 to reserve a seat. This exam is required under 35 ILCS 200/6-10 & 6-32 for those individuals wishing to qualify for the position of board of review member in applicable counties. A grade is good for three years from the date the exam is taken and successfully completed.
STATE-WIDE SUPERVISOR OF ASSESSMENTS EXAMINATION SCHEDULED 4/15/08
The department has scheduled a state-wide supervisor of assessment’s examination in Woodford County. The exam is scheduled to take place in the County Board Room of the Woodford County Courthouse Annex, 115 North Main Street, Eureka, IL 61530. The exam is scheduled for 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 15, 2008. Anyone interested in taking the exam should contact Debbie Ulrich at 309 467-7343 to reserve a seat. This exam is required under 35 ILCS 200/3-5 for those individuals wishing to qualify for the position of supervisor of assessments. A grade is good for two years from the date the exam is taken and successfully completed.

The department has scheduled a state-wide supervisor of assessment’s examination in Edwards County. The exam is scheduled to take place at the
Edwards County Farm Bureau Office, 15 South 5th Street, Albion, IL 62806. The exam is scheduled for 9:00 am on Wednesday, June 11, 2008. Anyone interested in taking the exam should contact Mary Beth Smith at 618 445-2115 to reserve a seat. This exam is required under 35 ILCS 200/3-5 for those individuals wishing to qualify for the position of supervisor of assessments. A grade is good for two years from the date the exam is taken and successfully completed.
2008 ANNUAL SUPERVISOR OF ASSESSMENTS/BOARD OF REVIEW MEETING
The department is finalizing plans for the annual Supervisor of Assessments/Board of Review meeting. The meeting will be held in Springfield on June 6, 2008.

TRANSCRIPTS
The department recently mailed student transcripts to all students who have taken a class in the past four years. Students should review their transcript carefully and report any discrepancy to the department. Students are encouraged to refer to the transcript when selecting courses for 2008. Courses should be selected with care to ensure that proper credit is received. The transcript contains the course name and number for courses completed, as well as hours, credit, level, and category. Graphs are also included representing continuing education credit if applicable. Credit will not be given for continuing education if a student has previously received credit for taking a course. Students will also not receive credit for taking the seminar and exam version of the same course. Students will also not receive credit for a course if they have completed the allotted number of hours in a given level or category.

INTERNET ACCESS
The department offers internet access for viewing transcripts on-line. To obtain access information and a password, please complete the application on page 37, of the 2008 Course Schedule and submit it to the department. Once a student has been assigned internet access, he or she can view their transcript anytime.
2008 TRANSCRIPTS AND 2009 COURSE SCHEDULES
This year, transcripts and course schedules were mailed to anyone who has taken a course in the past four years. Next year, transcripts and course schedules will only be mailed to students taking courses in 2008.

COURSE MATERIAL AVAILABLE ON THE WEB SITE
Course material for the department’s I-A Introduction to Residential Assessment Practices, I-B Introduction to Commercial Assessment Practices, I-T Township Assessor – Introductory Course, and I-BR Board of Review – Basic Course is now available on the department’s web site. Course material for the department’s I-E Introduction to Sales Ratio class will be available in early spring, and material for the I-M Introduction to Mapping for Assessors will be available in late spring. The material is available in a PDF format in the education section.
